Biography

Let Us Pause to Honor the Memory of
Mr. John Raymond "Rick" Adcock, Sr.
Mr. John Raymond "Rick" Adcock, Sr., age 65, of Lexington, Indiana entered this life on August 12, 1947 in Louisville, Kentucky. He was the loving son of the late, Raymond Wesley "Pap" and Mayme Ruth Morris Adcock. He was raised in Louisville and attended Atherton High School and Aaron's Trade School. He later attended Ivy Tech. Rick was inducted into the United States Army on Sept. 12, 1966 in Louisville, Kentucky. He rose to the rank of Sergeant E-Five serving in the First Infantry Battalion, 8th Cavalry Division during the Vietnam War. On June 1968 he received the Air Medal under the direction of the President. Rick was honorably discharged on September 11, 1972 at Fort Lewis Washington receiving the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Commendation Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal. Rick worked in the Heating and cooling industry, having worked for Steinhardt's and for Prudential. Rick was united in marriage to Marjorie A. Simpson on Jan. 18, 2003 in Madison, Indiana. He attended the Kent Baptist Church in Kent, Indiana. Rick loved to bowl and enjoyed bowling in Scottsburg. He was an avid U of L Cardinals fan and enjoyed fishing and woodworking. He had resided in Jefferson County since 2000. Rick died Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 2:50 p.m. at the Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville, Indiana.

Rick will be missed by his loving wife: Marjorie A. Simpson Adcock of Lexington, Indiana; his sons: John "Johnny" Raymond Adcock, Jr. and his wife, Ann of Madison, Indiana, Josh, Jeremy, & James Adcock and Tony Mason; his step daughter: Rachel Schiphorst and her husband, John of Hanover, Indiana; his step son: Jonathon Simpson and his wife, Carrie of Lexington, Indiana; 21 - grandchildren; his sisters: Susie Adcock McDonald of Hanover, Indiana, Terry Jones and her husband, Larry of Dupont, Indiana, Nina Schmidt and her husband, Duane of Madison, Indiana; his brothers: Jim Adcock and his wife, Carol of Hanover, Indiana, Bill Adcock of Hanover, Indiana, Steve Adcock and his wife, Jo of Nineveh, Indiana, Kelly Joe Adcock and his wife, Carrie of Hanover, Indiana, Mike Adcock and his wife, Vickie of Madison, Indiana; his aunts and uncles: Don and Nancy Morris of Marysville, Indiana, Chester Kiper of Louisville, Kentucky, Virgie and Casey Casey of Louisville, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Wesley "Pap" Adcock died, July 29, 1998; his mother, Mayme Ruth Morris Adcock died, July 19, 1999; his sister, Ramona Ruth Adcock died, Nov. 24, 2002; his grandparents, John William and Mary Catherine Morrow Morris and Alfred Raymond and Lillian Marlene Rogers Adcock.
FUNERAL CEREMONY
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., by Pastor Ken Ritchie, at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the New Bethel Cemetery near Chelsea, Indiana.
VISITATION
Friends may call Thursday, from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00a.m. until time of the service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
MILITARY HONORS
A Final Salute will be conducted on Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Full military honors will be conducted at the graveside by Jefferson Post 9, of the American Legion.
MEMORIAL EXPRESSIONS
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or American Kidney Foundation. Cards are available at the funeral home.
